Stop Drop and Roll! Scary curbside things

Not much going on in these parts lately..
Perhaps just a few photos:

The other morning when Devin came home from work, I decided to try and mow as many lawns as possible. Devin told me that we had to get going, I could sleep all day and all night, but Devin had to get some naps in before going back into work.
Early morning mow..errr..grazing lawns

This morning I had a bit of a freak attack. See those scary things below? Those two strange black things?
Yeah those things, while we were out for our morning walk this morning I saw them from a distance. As we got closer, it happened so fast, I'm not sure what exactly startled me. As fast as I dropped to the ground, i ended up on my side, bounced back up, and in the process I let out a heck of a growl on my way back up.
  Autumn weather sure is spooky!
scary unidentified things
After we walked around half the loop, Devin turned me around to walk back home.  I was forced to face my "weeble" from earlier. I had walk by those scary black things on the ground.  I kept my eyes front as we approached.  Once by them, I glanced back at them to show them that i wasn't afraid!
Just keep walking...Just keep walking..ignore them...they won't know you're there... Just keep walking...
Devin seems to think that i've come to life quite a bit. I'm really into playing with Lambie these days. Even with her silent cries, she's still fun to fling around.

Don't even get me started on the rubber chicken.
Devin puts it up high so i don't have free access to it.  It's taken down once a day or every couple of days.
I go ballistic on it!  I really crack up Devin and Nana with my Chicken flinging.  I managed to silence Chicken last night. No more squawks.  Nothing lasts forever... i definitely got my enjoyment out of it!

Oh, I almost forgot.  Devin gave me a nice massage today. I was drifting in and out of sleepies. When my left side was done, Devin stopped and told me I had to roll over if i wanted the other side done.  It took quite a few attempts, but I did manage to get myself turned over.  I had a bit of a burst of energy and wanted to play, then settled down.
Devin thought this would be nice bounding time for us.  I'll take it!

Call Me Pogo - Most Excellent News EVER!

Where do I even start with the most wonderful news?  How about if i build up to it??

I'll back it up to yesterday.  Devin and I went for an afternoon snooze before "work" took My Devin away from me.  I was sprawled out on my bed beside the big bed, with a blanket pulled between my front legs.
I had my nose pushed up against my leg and the blanket.  You can just imagine the sounds I was making.
I slept greyt, Devin on the other hand had to listen to my puffs.
Cuddled with one of my blankets

Work time came and it was time for Devin to leave.  I gave the "are you really leaving me look".  What if I just lay in the hallway and pout a little bit. Will you stay with me?
Why are you leaving me...

Devin, I'm talking to you.  Why are you leaving me?
Fine, don't answer me.  *pout*
Back to my bed to sulk a little bit - Pre-KONG sulk
This morning when Devin came home from work I was stretched out on the big bed. I wasn't moving for anything. I didn't even lift my head when Devin came into the room.  I gave a squinty eyed look as a form of "oh you're home, it's about time...You're 10 mins late ya know".
Ignoring Devin...  No mention of the "B" (breakfast) word. I'm not moving for anyone
Are all these morning photos necessary?
After my walk and breakfast I found myself up on the couch while Devin emailed back and forth with Karen from Camp Greyhound.
Really, what was life like before pillows??
Ignore the nose drop mark on the couch, I have a drippy nose at times, k??  :)
Karen suggested that Devin soak my foot for 5-10 mins. If I had a corn then the outer part of my pad would water log while the corn part would remain the same.

Devin had a medium zip lock baggy and filled it up with warmish water. I was laying on the big bed when Devin approached me with it.  Devin tried to put my foot inside the bag a few times, each time i pulled my foot out of the bag. On the last attempt at getting my foot submerged I yanked it out, gave a look and bolted off the bed. I was outta there!  I made a straight line for my nest and laid in there.

Devin had to bribe me out of my nest with dried liver treats.  THEN IT HAPPENED.   Sucker that I am...
Devin steered me towards the bathroom. Once I made it into the bathroom Devin gave me another piece of liver treat. I went at that like a shark!  Into the tub I walked myself.  I had to stand in there for a whole 10 mins.  Devin managed to keep me standing in there just over 5mins.
How am I going to get out of here????
Ugh
I popped out of the tub and Devin steered me towards my bed in the bedroom.  Devin pawed at my foot to see what was going on.  The area around the lighter patch was definitely waterlogged in comparison to the lighter area. As the area dried the ...wait for it....wait for it.... CORN!!!!! appeared!!!!!

Now the last photo of my paw doesn't capture the corn in all its "beauty" but you can get an idea of what's going on.

I want to thank Karen at Camp Greyhound for answering all of Devin's questions, offering advice and other alternatives and so on.   Thank you Karen!!!

Devin contacted Dr. Janet's office and told them:
I haven't started Milo on the prednisone treatment. I know that Janet said that it wasn't a corn when she inspected his foot, but I didn't feel good about giving him the prednisone.
It was recommended to me that I try and soak Milo's foot in water and if the pad was waterlogged and the area in the center was not then it is a corn. I did that, and discovered that there is a round spot in the center of Milo's pad. Milo has a corn.

The receptionist was more than ok with what Devin had to say. She went on to say that there is a dog that goes into the clinic with chronic corns.   Devin is thinking because the corn wasn't exposed (except for a tiny tiny dot) at the time of my pre X-ray visit and because I didn't respond to her pushing on my pad that it wasn't a corn.

I proved them all wrong!  *hehe*    Devin went on to tell the receptionist that we'd be proceeding with alternative treatments.   Devin is going to try and deal with my corn, if need be we will seek out help.

My foot soak kinda took a lot out of me. I hit my bed and roached!
Lately I've been in the business of tearing my bedding apart while getting comfy.  Darn blankets just don't stay in place!

We went over to Nana's for a little visit.  I nose dripped all over the day bed and floor *hehe*
When it was time to go home I loaded myself up into the truck and had a narcoleptic moment and nearly fell asleep instantly.

Supper was served, I gobbled that up like it was going out of style then retreated to my nest.

Fun In The Sun.... Then I Had Dr. Appointment :(

I lasted I think until 6am this morning before giving Devin the subconscious "look".   I'm getting pretty good with my Jedi Mind Talk/Tricks.

I did my usual after breakfast, crawled back onto my bed and crashed for a few hours before Mind Tricking Devin into going for our morning walk.  It sure was warm this morning!

When we arrived home, Devin tossed in a load of laundry.  We then took it over to Nana's to dry out on the line.  I laid down on the patio for a few minutes; I then had the humans relocate my blanket to the grass- MUCH MORE COMFY!   Nana held on to my leash while Devin tossed the clothing up on the line.

After the laundry went up on the line we packed into the car and went to town.  Devin and Melissa were going to tackle the pool and yard work today while I got to hang out with the Laaaaadies.

with my pool in tow we went to visit the laaaadies - I decided I'd catch a few z's before our arrival.

Dr Janet Update:

I sniffed around outside the clinic for a bit before going out.  Once inside my tail immediately went between my legs.  I know remember the place as:
1) needles
2) the place that makes me feel funny after waking up from a "nap"

It didn't take long for Dr. Janet to call us into the room.   She had me walk up and down the long hallway, i showed her my limping.  She checked my lumbar and joint movement, she even pressed on my toes and wiggled each toe individually. I didn't make a peep.  I'm kinda funny like that.

When Dr. Janet looked at me head on, she noticed that my right side (sore side) was rather inflamed.  She gave me a needle in my thigh to help with the inflammation and sent me home with 5 pills that I am to take 1 daily in the evening for 5 days.

She wants to book me in for an Xray ASAP, she didn't like the look or feel of things and wants to know what's going on inside there.

Needless to say Devin is a bit distraught over this.  One immediately jumps to the worst case scenario with us greyhounds.  We are prone to Osteosarcoma.

Devin is working days tomorrow and will check the schedule out in the morning; will give a call to Dr. Janet and figure out the best time to get me in.  :(

Saturday Morning Massage - An Attempt In Reflexology

I went for my massage/reflexology appointment today.

Sylvia started out with doing some reflexology on me. When she got to my right foot (sore side), second toe in, I went through the roof.  Sylvia didn't even really get a chance to wiggle it as she did the other toes to check my range of motion.  One minute i was laying quietly on my massage bed, the next minute i let out a blood curdling yelp/scream and bolted off.  It all happened so fast.

It took me a little bit before I let Sylvia gain back my trust -- okay who am i kidding, a few "treats" and I was like putty in her hands again.  I did flash her a few doe eyed looks when she went down my leg.  She did stop before touching my paw.  I decided that that was going to be a no touch zone.

Luckily, I am booked in to see Dr. Janet on the 24th.   It was a good thing Sylvia did what she did, now we know the area that the pain is coming from.  We will be able to relay this to Dr. Janet.

Thank you Sylvia for the wonderful swiss massage today.

Next side now - thank you

Oh yeah, this is wonderful!
After my massage we went over to Nana's for a little bit.

What if I just laid here......

Devin and I - Me with a tooth hanging out
Nana held on to me while Devin put the blankets on the line.
After the clothing went on the line, i came home for a bit and had some alone time while Devin went into town.  After Devin's return, we hung out a bit, went back to Nana's to get the clothing off the line. Some more laying about was accomplished.

Later on after I had my supper we went over to Melissa and Sherry's place to hang out.  The twins got in my face a few times, they used me as a springboard AND just overall was in my face.   I barked and grumbled, baring teeth but never making a bite or snap on the twins. Okay that's a lie.  JUST ONCE towards the end of their tomfoolery with me I rested my mouth on them gently to let them know I had had enough.  They eventually took that social cue.   I understand that they are just puppies being puppies.
Hanging out with Elly - She and I get along greyt together.  I even let her share my blanket earlier.
Elly and Me looking all cute and stuff.

So that was my day, it was pretty eventful as you can see.  Now that I'm home I'm sprawled out in my "nest", ready to sleep the night away.

Too tired to lift my head - munching on an ice cube
