Off Roading and Scary Things.

Devin and I went off roading this morning.

The snow was rather crusted/hard when we started out on the sidewalk, however, in areas it quickly turned to a not so stable surface to walk on.  I'd walk a few steps, fall
6inches into the snow, get my footing and do it all over again.  We had to tough this out as the other option was to try and make it down and up through the ditch.  Devin thought this was the safer path for us to take.
Onward we went!

It felt like it took forever to get down to the corner, every other step i had taken before reaching that point Devin was asking me if i was okay, I didn't respond, just kept looking forward concentrating on my next step.  Devin checked my feet for any cuts as i walked, EVIL CRUSTY SNOW!  No war wounds today!

Then it happened.......

I had an      Oh My God, What            is           That????? Moment.
I lowered my head (lower than usual) my tail went between my legs and I had the look of fear running through me. Good thing Devin had me on a short leash; the thought of bolting crossed my mind.  Devin brought me over to the HUGE SCARY mess on someones lawn. Tapping on  "IT" Devin told me it was okay. I wasn't convinced at first.  I slooooowly edged my way closer.  There were these HUGE eye like things staring at me.  Devin kept tapping on it, nothing came of it, so i decided to inspect a little closer.
Oh embarrassing....  Devin showed me that those scary "eye" things were just tree rings.   A tree had been cut down and cut into sections.  *phew*

We continued our walk a little further than turned around.  Too cold to go far, is what Devin said.  I could have kept going.  I wanted to turn around a few times to go back in the direction we had been walking in.

Soon it will be warm outside and we'll be back to our long walks.

Devin keeps saying, a tired dog is a happy dog.  Hmmm.... Maybe that will help with my separation anxiety levels, I suppose that's something to look forward to.

Back home, Devin did some laundry.  The first 3 times out of the apartment (Devin left shortly after we returned from our walk) i put up a fuss, crying until Devin had cleared the hallway. I settled back down.
The 4th Devin left, I came out from my "nest" with no cries. Moments later Devin arrived back, no crying to be had at all. I was laying in the hallway, waiting for the return.
We played for a bit (a few tosses of the snake down the hall), 10mins later Devin had to go back out for a moment. I cried then, but not for long. I settled down before Devin came back.
No real pattern to when or why I do the things I do (yet).

When Devin rolled over this morning I was found laying half on and half off my bed.

Devin was hungry (day shift mode) we got up at 4am and had breakfast together...Then back to bed we went....

After my crying spells today I was exhausted.....

I've got my snow feet!  Since living in Canada I've been growing hair in places i've never had before!
(feet hair, thigh hair)
wispy toe "hairs" (yes with an "s")

Devin Can Be Such A Jerk Sometimes...

I was laying on the bed when Devin decided to come in and lay down beside me.  Devin tried to have me flop on my side, but i wasn't having any of that. I just stayed where I was at, fighting against the pushes/pulls.

I was left alone, then Devin did it again *ugh*, this time I had enough and got up and jumped off the bed.  Devin can be such a jerk sometimes. I was more than content laying there. Had to go and ruin a good thing. :P

Before Devin disturbed me.

After Devin disturbed me.
Giving Devin "the look" yet again.
In an attempt to right the wrong, Devin gave me 2 ice cubes and half a milkbone.  I guess I can forgive....

Trying Out New Things...

Yesterday morning while Devin got ready for work, I got myself comfy. I found a nice comfy spot between pillows and blankets. hehe
Maybe Devin won't see me.....

Oh this is the life!

Last night after I went for my walk and had my supper I crashed out pretty hard.  Devin said I could be heard all the way into the bathroom with my  zz z z z z breathing.

And then it happened...

Devin went to bed, I was still in my nest, after a few moments Devin heard me get up and shuffle down the hall.  Devin called my name, but I had other plans for myself tonight.  I went into the "computer/spare room" and plopped myself down on my "training bed".  Devin came to see what I was up to.

Yawnnnnnnn

What are you looking at??

Shortly after Devin finished with the snapshots *ugh* I wandered into our room and dropped down on my bed.   Again with the heavy z z z z breathing. It's soooo tiring being a greyhound.

Target Touch Training

Devin and I just finished a session of target touch training.  Devin and I worked on "Come Milo".  Devin went into various rooms and called me, I came running! Food is definitely my motivator.

I was quick to lay down, "roll over", sit, "wait".  I was a bit on the hyper side that I didn't always wait for Devin to leave my sight before trotting over.  Devin did turn me around a few times to lay down on my training bed.
A few times too I offered up different things.  Devin still rewarded me for staying engaged.

Devin's said it before, but it's almost time for us to go see Shannon and Shannoncourt for a training session; just to get me doing new things.  A greyhound mind is a terrible mind to waste.
It's good bonding for all involved.

After supper tonight I had a mini play session. I found an OLD NEW toy :)  The no fluff toy with a water bottle inside. CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP

Again with "the look"
Frog has my back! :)
Safety in numbers....

I finally had a spurt of energy - It may not look like it, but I did. haha

Chomping on my Old New Toy

Off to bed now, Early morning tomorrow.

Nana comes to visit this weekend :)

Guide Dog, I am! I was Leap Leap Leaping Like A Lemur...

Where did all this snow come from??

Devin told me that I should have been called "Jiminy" (wait Jiminy was a cricket, I'm more like a grasshopper) instead of Milo.  I've mastered jumping the snowbanks in a single leap!  No hesitation
My back legs are like grasshopper legs, I spring off them and FLY until i come softly to the end of my leash.

I lead Devin away from a couple HUGE snowdrifts. One of them was almost as tall as me.  My depth perception is obviously better than Devin's. :D

On our stroll back home we took the road.  I was a weeee bit nervous with a few of the plows that went by.
Devin did the "Oh what's that???" in an excited voice.  I decided then what was going on around me was an okay thing, nothing to fear.
On the last part of our walk, Devin sprinted while I trotted ahead (Devin sure is slow).

Too bad the park wasn't closer to us, The snow would be perfect for me to jump around in.  I LOVE snow falls. :)

That's it for now,

No Power - Snuggle Time!

Last night the power kicked out around 7pm until 11pm.  Devin had put the laundry in the washer, halfway through the load is when the power went out.
I TRIED to tell Devin not to put it in (let out a few cries when Devin went down the hall); when will the human listen to me???

Devin went to bed to read a book, I wasted no time getting up on the bed for some snuggles.  I used Devin's feet as a neck/head rest; so comfy!

This morning after our walk I found my way back to Devin's bed.  Devin told me I have the ability to make a Queen size bed look like a twin size OR a California king, It all depends on how I curl up on the bed.

Curled up - Do we have to go outside?? (power out)

Power outage snuggles:
pressed myself up against Devin.  Safety in numbers

These eyesssss.... la la la these eyes...na na na..shan nana (how does that song go??)

Devin being goofy while I tuck in beside.

More than happy to be curled in amongst the pillows and blankets, and of course Devin!
Cuddled right in
Can you find me? hehe

I found a comfy spot this morning....
Now really, which bed would you choose???  I chose Devin's!

Devin had to run into town with Nana. As soon as i heard the shower engage i came out from my "nest".  I know what's happening next :(    Devin leaves, BUT i get my KONGS! :)

Keeping an eye on the bathroom door.
Feeling a bit put off ....

Devin's been puttering about today.  I was so out cold that I didn't even budge when the vacuuming started. I had my head buried under my blue bunny.  When the exhaust from the vacuum hit the "nest" where my head was, that made me twitch, I popped my head up and gave Devin a look.  Devin apologized and continued on in the other direction.

I'm thinking perhaps a maid service might be more considerate of my sleeping schedule...maybe..maybe? hmm....
