A Lesson In Stranger Danger - Big City Adventures

We loaded up and went to the big city for the weekend.

1) I had Christmas gifts waiting for me.  I was given a box of Milkbones, Blanket and a squeaky toy

2) I played at the park.  There was a bit of a dog fight on our last day there.  The owners were trying to separate their dogs from each other. With all the barking, growling going on, I felt the need to get in on it. I ran from one end of the park to where the action was.  Devin yelled at me but I kept on going towards the action.  I didn't get involved, but got close to the situation.  Everyone was put in their place to relax. I wandered around.

3) Play friend - Colby.  Colby got me to play with him, he's a young shepherd mix, he was barking carrying on. I finally gave in to his request. We ran after each other; when i'd get too close Colby would whine and cry like he was being eaten, I had a good growl on while I chased him, Devin wasn't sure if i was playing or "hunting".  I got yelled at to stop a few times, but Colby's mom told Devin that's just the way Colby is, a big baby, cries like that when he plays.   We continued to chase each other around the park.

4)  STRANGER DANGER-

Devin and I went to the park at 6am (something we did in the summer time, wasn't a big deal it was light outside then).

Our usual entrance was blocked off this weekend - there are normally 3 entry/exit points -  1 on either end of the park, and the one that leads out into this garden area.

I wandered around for a bit doing my morning thing, Devin caught sight of a person who came out from an area.  This person walked past us on the walkway, then back again, then back yet again, It seemed suspicious so Devin kept an eye on the person while I continued to wander around.  Devin got a gut feeling that we needed to get out of the park.  As Devin put my leash back on me, another person emerged from the building area, they joined the "suspicious" walker on the park bench outside the building.  One lit up a cigarette. When Devin and I exited the park, they both got up and started walking towards Devin and I, Devin had me running.  I wasn't sure what was going on; I was dragging behind while Devin was pulling me long.  We down the length of the park, up the side, they were still following us, we ran out into the street, walked down the center of the road while a few cars passed us.  Then continued to run.  I didn't quite understand the urgency to run the way we were though. After we had ran the length of backside of the park, that brought us to the short side (entrance side we normally enter on - also leads us up the street we were standing on).  The strange people had changed direction and were meeting us up that side of the park.  Devin still dragging me behind, kept running.  The only thing that got me going was a strange man who was out on the corner clapping his hands to make the pigeons fly away.  THAT got me running a full 3 gallops.  We didn't look behind us, just kept running until we made it home.  Where we were staying, we're about 2 minutes from the park.

Lesson learned:  No early morning park runs when the sun has not risen yet.  STRANGER DANGER!

Packed up and ready to go...

Tap Dancing On The Closet Doors...

I've exhausted Devin again with my sleepytime running against the closet door.  I've run into the same problem as yesterday, My feet slide from the door, nothing to hook them on to.

Devin called up Nana "whining" about being exhausted.  I guess I can understand that one.  I get to stay at home and sleep tonight while Devin has to go back into work.  It's  rough life being taken care of. hehe

We're packing up and heading out tomorrow for the big city.  I'll update with my big city adventures when I come back.

Octopus Sleeps

I wandered into the bedroom last night and crashed around on my bed.  I finally stopped moving around near morning time.  It's hard to get your feet to stay up against things when they can't hook around on stuff - IE: "nest walls".  I kept throwing my feet up against the closet door only to have them fall, i had to keep readjusting myself.  EXHAUSTING NIGHT!

While breakfast was being served Devin closed the door to my nest.  After gobbling down my food I retreated to the bedroom.  No sooner did I lay down on my bed Devin was chasing in after me with my winter coat telling me it was time to go outside. *UGH*

I didn't help Devin any with putting on my coat, I just laid there. As soon as it was over my head, Devin told me "outside"; I got up without a fight and walked to the door.

We had a nice LONG walk this morning, nearly a 2km one.  That evil dog named PENNY was outside and yapping at us as we passed by.  I'm good to just ignore her, i wish she'd do that same with me.

After my walk, i was sure happy to be back inside where it's warm.  I wasted no time jetting to my "nest" - waiting patiently for Devin to reopen the door.     In i went, I don't plan on moving from here today.

Dr. Janet called us back (Devin placed a call this morning while we were on our walk).  She suggested that we try the "NOW!" brand dog food.   I'm about halfway done this bag.  Not sure what to do with it if we change over now.   Anyone in our area need some dog food?  I don't believe the OSPCA takes open bags of dog food.  Hmm.....

That's it for now.

Alllll byyyyy Myyyyseeelllffffff ~ rooooooo~

Well Devin did it again today...

I was left alone while the truck went in for an oil change.  Devin put down my 5 KONGS for me. I was going in circles not sure which one to NOM NOM NOM first.

As Devin went to the door, i followed along with a KONG in my mouth. I flung it towards the door.  I can't believe I was left alone.  I wanted me and the KONG to go too.

I didn't do too much in the way of damages while Devin was gone.  I did get into the bathroom garbage and pulled out a tissue; that was the extend of my mischievousness.

Devin came home, we went for a walk.  It's darn cold out there today!  -25c with the wind.
I don't care much for crunch snow, matter of fact I STRONGLY dislike it.

We did some Target Touch Training.  Devin is determined to have me learn how to "come here" on command.  We'll get there.

*meds*
Devin cut my clomicalm dosage in half yesterday.  I'm only taking half a pill as opposed to 1 full one.
We'll see how that works for me.

Food*
Devin has noticed that i've been gassy since we switched foods.  Burps and fluffs
I'm about half way done with my new bag of food. Devin is going to call Dr. Janet and see about going back on Holistic Select.  Shall see.

We are in for the night~

Curled up in a ball last night - Tuck and Snooze

My nose was a bit out of joint today.  Might have something to do with being left alone.

Evening Protest

My last protest of the evening

Devin was VERY VERY SNEAKY tonight.  When my supper was put down for me tonight Devin closed the door to my "nest".  After supper I laid on the sheepie blanket then crept off between the couch and my "nest" when Devin mentioned "outside"  AGAIN* UGH.

Devin managed to get my coat on me while I laid there motionless.  It didn't take long after my collars were put on that I got up and went to the door with ease.

We went for a nice evening walk. I'm now back home and hanging out in my nest.   Gonna spend the evening here I think....

I'll Go When I'm Ready To Go....

Devin tried and tried with all might to get me to go outside this morning.  My collars were put on me, I was still laying in my crate.  Pull, beg, plead, beg and pulled some more.   FINALLY I gave out from the crate.

I took my time with complying, I could see and hear that I was wearing Devin down.  While Devin pulled on the leash and tried to encourage me to come out, I stood my ground.  I WILL GO OUT WHEN I'M READY TO GO OUT; was the stance I was taking this morning.  I looked like like a camel being pulled on to stand up, neck stretched out but my body wasn't budging.   Why go outside when it's comfy and warm where you're at??

When we finally made it outside I had a gigantic pee.  Devin can't figure out why i'd prefer to lay in my nest over going outside when I clearly need to pee.  On our way home I was asked why i protest so much.  I didn't have any answers, I just kept walking.

Devin did some laundry and had to run into town today.   Same ole' Same ole',  Devin left for laundry I cried, Devin came back, gave me a KONG. I quieted down.
Devin went back to tend on the laundry - I cried a few peeps then settled myself down.

When it came time for Devin to head into town, I was given another KONG.  That kept me busy for a bit.
I didn't get into anything while Devin was away; because of my good behavior I was given a few specialty cookies. *NOM NOM NOM*

It's been a rather lazy day for me.  A lot of my time has been spent in my "nest".

It's almost supper time. Devin's been at me for almost 20mins now to "go outside" *UGH* I wish Devin would just give it up. I'll go when I need to go.

Below are some photos taken from when I hung out at Nana's the other day:

Laying under Devin's shirt

Still sporting the shirt - DRINKING up the "special" water.

Happy New Year - 2012

This morning I was woken up by Devin's alarm clock.  The sound of the waves are about the only thing that will get me to bounce out of bed in a real hurry.  Devin was too slow moving that I managed to find my way down the hall and into my "nest".

I had a New Years Cupcake waiting for me.  That Nana is really sweet!   I wonder what Parker got??

New Years Eve 2011

This is how we roll.  In bed early...

What? Bedtime ?
I followed Devin into the bedroom. I laid in my bed for a lil' bit then stared up at Devin from the foot of the bed.  Devin said I could come up, so i jumped up and quickly found a comfy spot.  I crammed my head under the pillows.

A little bedtime story... Vampires!!!
